RBL Bank Hackathon is a solution development programme aimed at fostering the creation of new solutions in Banking and Financial Services. The Open Innovation theme of RBL Bank Hackathon will cover information dissemination and customer acquisition with better & personalized services within the banking ecosystem.

Participants need to envision a new solution and use the diverse set of Financial Services APIs available from various forums including RBL Bank, to create innovative solutions. The solution that surpasses the currently available solutions in the market and gives a superior intuitive experience to the end user will compete for the top prizes in the Grand Finale.

The top three winners stand a chance to win exciting prizes along with a potential engagement opportunity with RBL Bank for productizing their ideas apart from cash rewards . So get started and register now!

RBL Bank Hackathon will be conducted in 3 phases:

Phase 1

Participants need to register by providing a brief summary of the idea and identify categories of APIs which will be used for creating the solution.

Phase 2

Shortlisted participants will be provided with access to all APIs on the IBM Bluemix platform and they will have to submit a video demonstrating a minimum viable solution, RBL Bank API usage and business benefits.

Phase 3

Finalists will be invited to Bangalore & Mumbai regional events to present their minimum viable solution to an eminent Jury. Winners will be invited to the award ceremony in Mumbai.

You can use RBL APIs, IBM APIs, Google APIs, Microsoft APIs, India Stack API’s etc for your application. Please note that you have to use at least one RBL Bank API to be eligible. Eligibility

All participants must adhere to the following criteria to participate in the programme:

  • This programme is open to companies and individuals.
  • This programme is also open to companies who have previously sold, licensed or otherwise provided services and/or similar solutions to RBL Bank.
  • This is a team participation programme. You can have at most 5 members in a team.
  • This is an open theme solution programme. In order to participate, the team needs to use at least one of the listed RBL Bank APIs (Retail Banking, etc) on the site.
  • You may use open source libraries available elsewhere.
  • By participating in the hackathon, you agree to the Terms and Conditions.

Once you have registered, we will carefully review your application based on the idea summary that you have provided. If you are selected, we will get in touch and send you the login details for IBM Bluemix, the API toolkit and all the guidance material you need.
Yes you can, the RBL Bank Hackathon programme is open to participants from all over the world. For more information on eligibility, please take a look at the Terms & Conditions.
Each team can have a maximum of 5 members.
Participants will have to come up with a solution using diverse set of RBL Bank APIs. They may also use programme partner APIs as well as open source libraries available elsewhere. In Phase 1, the teams will be shortlisted basis the idea. In Phase 2 they would need to submit a video of their working minimum viable solution. In Phase 3, selected participants will be invited for the Grand Finale at Mumbai.
Participants need to share the name of the Solution, Business problem/ use case that the solution addresses, details of how the solution solve the problem innovatively and finally benefits coming out of the solution. Finally participants should also confirm which particular RBL Bank API category or categories they are planning to use. This information will be used to shortlist teams for Phase 2.
Participants need to submit a video demonstrating the working of the solution, RBL Bank API usage and business benefits. Before being declared as a finalist, participants may have to submit the working solutions.
You have to submit a video demonstrating the working of the prototype, RBL Bank API usage and business benefits. This submission will have to be made on the IBM Bluemix Platform.
You can develop the entire solution with the wide range of services and APIs available from RBL Bank as well as services available on the IBM Bluemix platform. You are not restricted to any single development language or technology.
It is not mandatory. It can be Mobile App or solution which can be accessible via mobile.
The entire idea need not be fully implemented. However, the prototype should be functional so that it can be reviewed by the judges.
No, one does not need to be logged in to the RBL Bank Hackathon website or be online for the entire duration. You will be given access to Bluemix platform to develop the solution.
You have to use at least one RBL Bank API to be eligible. However, You can create a test API and stub it at your end for using it in your solution.

All expenses associated with participation on Grand Finale including but not limited to any flight or rail tickets, accommodation, food and beverages will have to be arranged by the participants themselves.

You will be provided with 10 minutes to present your prototype followed by Q&A.
